Do not Worry

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matt 7 v 31-33

My phone is pinging all the time. Various friends and contacts sharing stories, tips and advice. Where is it best to shop? Who will deliver? The latest health advice…some fake, some useful.

Which direction are we looking in? Whose voice are we listening to? Are the words we’re speaking life-giving and affirming? Who has our attention?

Our Father knows what we need and time and again, he has been faithful to provide it. More than ever in this time we need to lift our gaze….away from the demands and distractions of our everyday lives and onto Jesus and the coming kingdom.

More than ever, we need to be seeking his face, praying for his kingdom to come and living in a way that honours him.

Father, thank you that you see me and you know my needs. Thank you that you say “Do not worry”. Help me to turn my gaze away from the world and towards you. I declare that with you, all things are possible. I’m praying today that your kingdom will come and your righteousness will be evident in me.
